Inclusion, SEN and Disabilities (SEND)
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
SENCo - Mrs Jennifer Slater (Headteacher)
Taywood Nursery School is committed to treating every child as an individual. We have high expectations for our children and believe each and every child should achieve their full potential. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which is fully inclusive for all. Our aim is to ensure that equality is embedded throughout our practice.
As a parent, you may already feel that your child may have a special educational need or disability, or our practitioners may identify this when your child starts at nursery. Our team are experienced in supporting children with SEND and we work closely with external agencies to provide the best possible outcomes.
For further information regarding how the local authority support children with additional educational needs, follow the link to the Lancashire County Council website where you can find information, advice and support.
Local Offer
The Local Offer informs parents of the 'offer' that we provide for children with SEND. It outlines the services and support available in our nursery school. Further information can be found below on the LCC website.

Provision for children with English as an additional language (EAL)
We undertake to make appropriate provision for all EAL children to ensure they can access the nursery's curriculum and environment. This includes using Makaton signs to support communication and develop vocabulary and working closely with parents to ensure that the development of the home language is as expected for their age and stage of development.
