Seedling Room 2024 - 2025
Seedlings Room - 9 months to 2 years
Our Seedling Room is a safe, spacious and welcoming environment, meeting the needs of children from ages 9 months to 2 years. Children are free to explore the well-resourced continuous provision, helping to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding across all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The curriculum is well designed and progressive, promoting communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development, through group sessions, key worker time and quality adult interactions. We also prioritise early literacy and mathematics, as well as learning about the world around them and exploring creatively. Our vision is to promote independence and a smooth transition into the maintained nursery school provision.
We take up to 9 children during the 'school hours' session, which runs from 8:45am to 3:15pm. We also provide Breakfast and After School sessions, providing wrap-around care from 8:00 am to 5:45 pm for up to 6 children. We believe that the care and education should be seamless during these transitional periods.
All early years practitioners are at least Level 3 qualified and are supported by the Extended Services Co-ordinator and Family Support Worker. Our ratios are 1 staff member to every 3 children.
What Ofsted says about Seedlings (September 2024)
Children are greeted by knowledgeable staff who are welcoming and friendly in their approach. Staff at this small, homely setting help children to feel that they are valued and that they belong. Staff act as good role models. They support the children to follow the expectations, such as using good manners. Young children use simple sign language to say thank you at snack time, without prompting.
Leaders have an excellent understanding of the curriculum. They have high expectations for all children. Leaders have carefully designed a curriculum that is aspirational and builds on what children know and can do over time. The curriculum gives priority to supporting children's progress across the prime areas of learning.
There is a clear focus on supporting children's communication and language skills. The setting is a language-rich environment, where babble, talk and singing are valued. Staff support children to learn their first words through stories and play. They introduce a range of new and interesting vocabulary.
A welcome from our Room Leader...
In Seedlings, we cater exclusively for the needs of each child, providing a safe and nurturing environment to help our children develop at every stage. Our caring, qualified staff will work closely with parents to support your child’s daily routine and to ensure continuity throughout your child's care and education.
Children also have access to our wonderful outdoor environment, where they can expand their physical development; learning how to run around our large area, jump in muddy puddles and skip along whilst singing songs. Children will also be provided with opportunities to expand their imagination; role playing in our beautiful mud kitchen, creating delicious foods to eat as well as hunting for creepy crawlies! Children can also explore our small world areas with resources such as cars, dinosaurs, animals and so much more!
All children will be assigned a key worker, who will work closely with your child and be responsible for their emotional support, ensuring that they feel safe, cared for and understood, as well as providing comfort and support when needed.
Communication with parents/ guardians is very important to us, and provide a detailed verbal handover at the end of the session, given by their key worker. Our Class Dojo and online learning journey provides parents with photos, updates and information about their day.
Our Seedlings team are very proud of our nursery and we would love to give you a tour of our lovely environment.
